The fire is mostly on private land, it started this morning. The fire is now over 200 acres in size. More than 100 fire fighters are involved.

A round of applause and thanks to our Fire Department and all of the volunteer firefighters who successfully fought the Moon Canyon fire and saved all of the homes. We could hear them working into the night. It is alleged that the fire started from a illegal burn at a residence at the end of Moon Canyon.

We have to take a lot more precautions on both keeping our property clear of brush and overgrowth AND making sure that the public land is also cleared of growth. Every time anyone suggests cutting down some of the brush somebody starts screaming about it being sanctuary for wildlife. Well that is true but you bet that the first time one of these wildfires hits someone's home or heaven forbid makes it into the town itself, we're going to be the ones that need a sanctuary.

Here we go again. The toxic offender is already trying to spin this to trash somebody (check out Topix). He apparently dismisses the fact that fires are dangerous and do get out of control with or without permits. What a truly civic minded individual could do is use this ongoing risk in a positive way; to educate and motivate people to clear brush, to publicize the need for a fire break between the city and the open areas, and to encourage public support for a united campaign to protect Bisbee from wildfires that could take lives or property. But he'd rather use it as an opportunity to criticize the city or someone in the administration. How typical!

The toxic offender has been neutralized (too bad we can't say the same about his yard) just ignore him. Everyone knows he is desperate for attention. Remember the credo...
