Supreme Court or the voters. Plenty of time. It can do both. The Court first then voting? Why not? No rush is there?

Read the complaints mouthed by the hysterical and then think about the facts.

Complaint: This is an expensive cost to the city.

Fact: Assuming the council even chooses to take it to the supreme court, the city attorney is on salary. The biggest expense of any lawsuit is in legal fees. There are no legal fees for the city. Filing costs and other incidentals are a comparatively small expense. Chicken feed, so to speak.

Complaint: The voters should decide.

Fact: Decide when? You can always have an election on this issue but you don't have the luxury of waiting to appeal a case or to take one to the supreme court. If you miss your chance you don't get a do over if you have second thoughts.

Complaint: This is a vendetta by the city attorney.

Fact: The decision to appeal or go to the supreme court is the councils' not the attorneys'. He works for them.

Complaint: The city never learns its lesson.

Fact: A lesson? Is that what the hysterical think? Had people simply given up on what is right we would still have Separate but Equal and that brilliant legal decision was made by none other than the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ordinances aside, this legal victory may spell election victory for Jeff. Especially if MacKinnon takes it to the Supreme Court.

When Jeff filed to run against Luche in ward two everyone thought it was a joke. But the visibility and publicity could pull in the votes for Jeff.

After all, who remembers why he ran in the first place? What voters will see is someone who fights hard for them, all the way to the Supreme Court (!!!), and the timing could not be better for Jeff.

If he can keep from meeting voters in person -- he's a shoe in!!!

What happened at the meeting tonight?
Ron sounded like he was all alone in wanting the Supreme Court review but MacKinnon said nothing. What gives?
It looked like the whole thing had been discussed somewhere else and this was just for show.
Haven't seen a mayor make such a strong impassioned plea since Dan against beer on Vista. In that case when the vote came Dan swung to the opposition for a unanimous vote.
At least Ron's vote lined up with his argument.

Ron came off like an out of control child. Good riddance Ron.

Look for the zoning laws to be passed by a majority. The court may have cut Harris a break on a technicality but the voters won't.

Do you really think the voters will accept the zoning changes? I question that. I think they are more interested in maintaining freedom than accepting the conformity of others.

Yes. the voters will accept the ordinances.
They did when the last referendum went to a vote. Then as years dragged on the city made changes asked for with THAT referendum.
Yes. Lazy voter's way out. They'll go for it.

UNLESS unless someone tells them what it is they are voting for. Not just a number, a place on the ballot, but an issue that turns out to be illegal after Prop 207.

They will STILL accept and vote YES. But not me........

Word on the street is that Harris will get less than 10 per cent of the vote. Perhaps he should stick to petition tampering. He does better at that!

Jeff may be lucky to get that much, but there is no polling in Bisbee, we're all guessing.
