Would it not have been much much simpler if the city
had NOT appealed Hoggatt's decision in the first place?
That way the referendum could have piggybacked
on the ballot last March with the Charter Amendments,
making that election a lot more cost efficient.
There was time and opportunity to put both things on the ballot and the turnout might have been better instead of the record low.
Plus, it would have freed up MacKinnon to tilt at other windmills like the appeal
of the trial court decision on the Border Cities affair.
As it is, the Recorder's office still has to do its check on the signatures.
I understand they were bent out of shape when MacKinnon
held back the paperwork on the first go-round.
