Maybe they'll find they don't want what is all too familiar, and not especially well-liked. Just maybe.

PostSubject: Concerns about Jack Porter   Wed Aug 27, 2008 2:57 pm

I have several concerns about Jack Porter. One of those concerns is that he has influence over the police and exercises that influence. He does not seem to be doing anything about the meth problem and the crime it brings to our town. He never talks about it. He also seems to do favors for people he likes and retaliates against people he does not like. I think the power of being Mayor would go to his head. I think that he tells some people one thing and does another. I am also concerned that he is close to the Beauchamps. I couldn't stand Dan Beauchamp as Mayor and feel he caused many problems in our town. Dan did get the sewer project completed, but those people who did the project did a shoddy job. The City has had to do a lot of repairs already. Did you know that many people on the narrow steep side streets in Old Bisbee did not get new pipe up to their homes? I don't think Jack Porter is the type of man who should be involved in politics. The same goes for Luche. She doesn't contribute anything to this City but bake a bunch of cakes.

Porter bashes every city employee and expects the police to do his bidding. He sure lost their votes. Is there anyone he hasn't alienated?

Well, it makes more sense than doing favors for people he does not like and retaliating against people he likes.

As long as it remains within the bounds of law and ethics, it is traditional politics to use one's discretion to punish one's political enemies and to reward one's political friends.

PostSubject: And the winner is?   Sat Aug 30, 2008 12:31 pm

It would seem that Jack Porter's name recognition and
history on council and public service have served him well, making it appear as if he is set to become the next mayor. Apparently Porter’s education never became an
issue; maybe the average man decided success won by hard work is a better indicator than Jeff's presumption that education equates to success. While several times Porter has fallen victim to foot in mouth syndrome most of his positions were vastly miscommunicated by himself. Needless to say he has taken steps to correct that. Porter cares deeply about Bisbee or wouldn’t have become involved to the extent he has. Few of the other candidates have shown that long term interest. Whetstone doesn’t have enough name recognition to win this time whereas to some extent Lindstrom suffered from too much recognition and recollection, but both have come away from this campaign with improved chances the next time around.

Looks like some think that there is gonna be a run off. Are 5 candidates enough of a drain to divide votes that much? Interesting question.
