Cleaning up Bisbee parks may seem like an attack on those who revitalized Bisbee back in the 60's and 70's but it isn't. There is a difference. The immigrants of the 60's and 70's elevated a dying town, bringing energy and a new creative direction; they left a larger society behind to find a different approach to life. For the majority drugs were experimental and recreational. These new arrivals are not younger versions of us, for them drugs aren't experimental or recreational but a total commitment. They are using Bisbee like an inner city druggie uses an abandoned building and the effect on Bisbee can be just as negative. We need to stop being so nostalgic and take note of this difference.
