Sterile Tourism, Hippi Redux, Mining Town

The draw of Bisbee isn't just a museum, or mining it is the Hippi flavor that draws the tourists. Take away the Goar park hangouts, remove the color and flair that is Bisbee and there goes a major chunk of the tourist trade. The mining industry it going to be a part of town but it can't be the only part and it has to learn to live with what Bisbee has become AFTER mining abandoned it. It may be our history but it can't be our only future. But neither can tourism. We can't let certain businesses define what we are to become anymore than we can let the mine owners or the free spirted. Bisbee has a new identity and at least for now it needs to remain just as it is.

Yup. Take away Woodstock, take away dog-cat-mouse man, take away the Jesus lady.

Let's get some of the Bisbee Police on foot. Dress em up in old west marshall clothes and a shiny star, teach em to say yessum and nope. Put em on foot patrol in the park. However, I guarantee that in two months those bitchin the loudest will then be complaining because a cop is there. I can hear it now, police presence, big brother etc. Anybody wanna lay odds? There is no pleasing some folks.

Nobody objects to foot patrol. We'd welcome that, just don't have red shirts in jackboots or hidden cameras violating people's rights. We want to encourage the use of the park yet discourage the misuse. If our local police can do that delicately with citations rather than over playing things everyone will be happy.
